On November 14th the District of Summerland, Wildstone Construction, Skyfire Energy and partnering consultants cut the ribbon for the Summerland Energy Centre (formally known as the solar and storage facility).
The project was funded through the Canada Building Fund (formally known as the Gas Tax Fund), with $6 million of approved grant funding, and $980,000 from the District Electrical Utility reserve contributing to electrical infrastructure upgrades.

The District of Summerland is working with a team of consultants to develop Zoning and Design Guidelines for the future development of a sustainable residential development on Cartwright Mountain, that complements the existing Summerland Solar Facility.
A Conceptual Plan was approved in April 2022 by Council, which is guiding staff and consultants on the planning development for the project.
The proposed eco-village development area sits on roughly 66 acres of District-owned land on Cartwright Mountain. The subject property is located on 13501 Denike Rd.
