The District of Summerland is in the process of removing the existing pier at Gordon Beggs Rotary Beach due to safety reasons as identified in a condition assessment report.
The District of Summerland has confirmed funding to build a new “basic” pier similar to existing through the Growing Communities Fund. Design work is currently underway which will be followed with Ministry review and approval process.
The Summerland Rotary Club is taking a leadership role in engaging the community to raise funds for additional enhancements which would likely be implemented in a later phase of the project.
A community survey was open over the summer to gain insights into community priorities for pier enhancements. A summary of the survey results are here: Pier Survey Summary (2.43 MB PDF).
All new design features are contingent upon Ministry and environmental approvals and detailed reviews of water depths and safety.
